How it works
Create your account
Sign up free with email or Google. Your profile is your storefront — add a photo, city, and short bio to build buyer trust.
Connect Stripe to receive payments
Go to your Profile → click Connect Stripe. You'll be taken to Stripe's secure onboarding. Takes about 5 minutes. Required before buyers can purchase.
Post your first listing
Click + Sell in the top nav. Add photos, set your price, pick the condition and IP, and choose AU or NZ delivery. Your listing goes live immediately.
Buyer pays — funds held securely
When a buyer clicks Buy Now, their card is charged through Stripe. The platform fee is deducted and the remainder is routed to your Stripe account.
Ship the item
Message the buyer to confirm their address. Pack carefully, get a tracking number, and share it in the chat. Standard AU/NZ post works great.
Get paid
Stripe pays out to your nominated bank account on a rolling 2-day schedule (after a short initial hold for new accounts). Check your Stripe dashboard for payout dates.
Setting up Stripe
Stripe is the payment processor we use. It's free to set up and used by millions of sellers worldwide.
Go to your Profile
Click your avatar → My Profile, or visit /profile directly.
Click "Connect Stripe"
Found in the top-right of your profile card. You'll be redirected to Stripe's onboarding.
Fill in your details
Stripe asks for your legal name, date of birth, home address, mobile number, and bank BSB/account.
Verify your identity
Upload a photo ID (driver's licence or passport). Stripe uses this to comply with Australian financial regulations.
Done!
You'll be redirected back to OziCollect. Your profile will show a green "Payments enabled" badge.
OziCollect never touches your banking details. Everything is handled directly by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment processor.

Platform fees
OziCollect charges a small platform fee per successful sale. Listing is always free. Stripe's card processing fees (~1.75% + 30¢ for AU) are included within the platform fee for simplicity.

No hidden fees. The fee is deducted from the sale price automatically. You always see your estimated payout when creating a listing. Buyers pay no additional fees.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an ABN to sell?
No ABN required for casual sellers. Stripe will ask for your personal tax details (TFN or IRD) if your payouts exceed certain thresholds. For regular high-volume sellers, an ABN is recommended.
What payment methods can buyers use?
All major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), Apple Pay, Google Pay, and any payment method Stripe supports in AU/NZ.
How long do payouts take?
Stripe pays out on a rolling 2-day schedule once your account is fully verified. New accounts have a 7-day initial hold. You can see all upcoming payouts in your Stripe dashboard.
What if a buyer opens a dispute?
If a buyer disputes a charge, Stripe will notify both parties. Provide proof of shipping (tracking number, photos) to resolve it in your favour. OziCollect buyer protection covers legitimate buyers, not fraudulent disputes.
Can I sell from New Zealand?
Yes! Select NZ as your region when posting. The platform fee is 10% for NZ listings. Prices display in NZD automatically. Stripe NZ accounts are fully supported.
Can I list a Wanted post without connecting Stripe?
Yes — Wanted and Showcase posts don't require Stripe. Only For Sale listings require Stripe so buyers can check out.
What happens to my Stripe account if I stop selling?
Nothing — your Stripe Express account stays connected. You can disconnect it from your Stripe dashboard at any time. OziCollect only uses it to receive transfers.
